Last Fall marked an exciting chapter as I answered the call from the Shreveport Regional Arts Council for Louisiana-themed highway signs. The canvas? The picturesque Boom or Bust Scenic Byway, a 137-mile stretch across north Louisiana from Vivian to Lake Claiborne adorned with over 20 stops and attractions.
In the midst of a talented pool of artists, I submitted four distinctive designs, each capturing the essence of the communities along the byway. The thrilling news? Two of my creations emerged victorious, earning a coveted spot in the semi-finals.
Now, the spotlight turns to the communities themselves, as residents have the power to choose their favorite design. A democratic art journey, where the chosen designs will come to life as 11 unique signs, enhancing the byway experience at each stop.
